Enigma Gymnastics Club shared Disability Sport Fife's post. ...

Fife Gymnastics Development Disability Sport Fife (DSF) has joined forces with the Enigma Gymnastics Club in Leven and Active Fife to specifically promote gymnastics for young people with Down Syndrome. In preparation for the new Sunday sessions, club coaches attended an inclusive coaching workshop organised by DSF and next month there will be a further training course in Fife organised by Scottish Disability Sport and Scottish Gymnastics. Kirkcaldy & Central Fife Sports Council has helped fund the initiative with a grant for training, equipment and registration to British GymnasticsGymnastics. Gymnastics is widely recognised as a most appropriate activity for young people with additional support needs. Movement exploration and learning are important for all children and hugely beneficial for young people with Down Syndrome. Enigma club coaches offer fun activities, quality coaching, challenge and ultimately a competitive pathway in the sport of gymnastics. Numbers continue to rise steadily and some of the young gymnasts will be taking part in the inclusive coaching course to be held in the west of Fife in mid June. For further information on the Enigma Gymnastics Club initiative for children with Down Syndrome contact Norma Buchanan, Administrator, Disability Sport Fife. norma.buchanan@fife.gov.uk Photo: gymnasts Kya Clark,Eve Crawford, Sophie Allan and Myles Rice.
